We are seeking a Polymers Technician to provide technical assistance to both AMIC Polymers research staff and industrial clients to support polymer research projects using pilot scale processing and analysis equipment.
You will assist with workshop-based research and development activities and apply your knowledge and experience to ensure outputs which will have a direct economic and technical benefit to AMIC and our partner companies.
About the person: The successful candidate must demonstrate that they have: Either: a) OND/ONC and/or NVQ level 3 or above or equivalent in a relevant polymer engineering/mechanical discipline and/or a recognised apprenticeship completed in an industrial polymer processing environment OR b) Lower / no qualifications with more relevant experience in polymer processing / testing.
Recent relevant experience in an engineering/mechanical environment or service.
Demonstrable experience of: Mechanical design and assembly with the ability to identify and safely use the most appropriate equipment and tools for the task.
Working in a lab or workshop environment with an understanding of the safe working procedure manual handling and safe sling lifting techniques.
Maintaining polymer processing and ancillary equipment.
Training others in the use of equipment or tasks used in a polymer processing environment.

This post is available for 3 years.
Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
