About the job: To strengthen the clinical academic base of Endocrinology within the Centre for Public Health (CPH), School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences (SMDBS) at Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT).
The successful candidate will join academic teams within SMDBS at QUB specialising endocrine-related cancers within both the Centre for Public Health and the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research and cross-centre research activity will be encouraged.
There will also be opportunity for development of NI Biobank, and connectivity with ongoing research into rare diseases in CPH.
Academic responsibilities involve undertaking research in line with the School's research strategy, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contributing to School's administration/outreach activity.
The post will contribute to strategic objectives relating to research, education, innovation and international impact and is aligned with investments in Belfast Region City Deal which aim to create an integrated ecosystem for health and life sciences.
The clinical element of this post (5 PAs) will involve the provision of an outpatient and inpatient service in Endocrinology and Diabetes.
Options may become available to develop a sub-specialty interest depending on the needs of the service and wishes of the successful candidate.

About the person: The essential educational requirements for the post are: * Primary Medical Degree. * Higher degree (Ph D, MD or equivalent). * Full Registration with the GMC with license to practice (must have both at time of appointment). * Post registration qualification (Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians United Kingdom /Ireland or equivalent qualification / training). * Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Endocrinology/ Diabetes via: a) Certificate of completion of training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview). b) Portfolio pathway (formerly known as Certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR). c) Relevant European specialist qualification (REQ); OR Recognised Specialist Qualification (RSQ).
