Queens Cross Housing Association is an award-winning social landlord based in the northwest of Glasgow. With 4,355 properties adjacent to the city centre and West End and the Forth and Clyde canal running through, it is a place where people are proud to live and to work. Queens Cross Group includes a Registered Social Landlord, a property management subsidiary (Queens Cross Factoring) and a social enterprise which lets commercial property (Queens Cross Workspace).
Queens Cross Housing Association is seeking to appoint a Head of Commercial Services.
The Role
The Head of Commercial Services will support and develop our Factoring and Commercial Services Department, which provides services to Queens Cross Housing Association’s subsidiary companies Queens Cross Factoring Ltd and Queens Cross Workspace Ltd.
The Head of Commercial Services will provide support and leadership to Queens Cross Factoring, which was set up in 2005 and currently has a turnover of £2m. It provides a comprehensive property management service to approximately 2700 owners in mainly traditional and new build tenemental properties along with a small portfolio of 12 mid-market flats, which we are looking to expand.
The Head of Commercial Services will also provide support and leadership to Queens Cross Workspace. Established in 1985 the Queens Cross Workspace charity aims to provide affordable, high quality, hardworking business space to local businesses. We own and operate over 70 office buildings, workshops, high street retail and warehouses with a turnover of nearly £1M.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership and Service Delivery – providing leadership and day-to-day management of both companies, ensuring a high-quality, responsive customer service and performance management.
- Business Development and Growth – lead strategic growth of the factoring and commercial property businesses, exploring new markets and service areas.
- Governance and Corporate Reporting – support the effective functioning of both subsidiary Boards, ensuring clear governance processes and reporting, and providing high-quality reports, KPI’s, risk assessments and providing strategic advice to the Board.
- Strategic Partnership and Employability – develop and maintain effective partnerships with local authorities, funders, businesses and community stakeholders. Driving forward the Board’s ambition to deliver employability initiatives and charitable outcomes.
- Financial and Risk Management – oversee budgets and ensure strong financial controls, maximising financial performance.
- Ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory framework.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Education Required
- Strong leadership and operational management experience
- Track record of business development and growing income streams
- Demonstrable experience of performance and customer service improvement
- Budget management and financial planning skills
- Strong communicator with influencing skills at senior level
- Experience of Project Management with demonstrable experience in the delivery of high-quality major repairs and investment projects
- Significant experience and understanding of delivery property services preferably within the housing sector
- Track record of delivering effective procurement and contract management balancing quality and price
- Practical knowledge of Building Regulations and Standards
- Practical knowledge of Health and Safety management and compliance in domestic and commercial property
- Practical understanding of construction project management
- Qualified to degree level in a business-related subject or can demonstrate equivalent experience
- Ability to build partnerships and external relationships
