£380-400/day (Inside IR35) | Wokingham (Fully onsite) 6 months contract
Our client, a leading global organisation, is looking for an experienced Test Architect to lead the definition and governance of enterprise-wide testing strategy, architecture, and quality engineering standards across large-scale transformation programmes. As the Test Architect, you will be responsible for shaping end-to-end testing strategy across complex enterprise environments, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end test architecture, including frameworks, environments, tooling, and test data strategy
- Establish enterprise-wide testing standards, governance, and best practices
- Design and implement automation frameworks across UI, API, mobile, performance, and security testing
- Evaluate and recommend testing tools and technologies; lead modernisation initiatives and PoCs
- Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
- Define approaches for non-functional testing, including performance, resilience, accessibility, and security
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to QA teams and test engineers
- Collaborate with developers, solution architects, DevOps teams, and stakeholders to drive quality by design
- Review test metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to support continuous improvement
- Ensure testing practices align with regulatory, security, and audit requirements where applicable
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in software testing / quality engineering
- 3–5 years in a Test Architect or Test Lead capacity
- Strong expertise with automation frameworks such as: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, REST Assured
- Experience testing APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, SDLC, DevOps, and CI/CD practices
- Hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as: Apache JMeter, Gatling
- Programming/scripting experience in Java, Python, or JavaScript
- Experience with cloud platforms
- Knowledge of containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-driven testing tools and test analytics
- Domain experience in Banking, Insurance, Utilities, Telecoms, or Healthcare
- Certifications such as ISTQB Advanced/Test Architect, SAFe, or cloud certifications
