Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Middleware Engineer to support and maintain enterprise middleware platforms within a fast-paced IT operations environment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring system stability, performance, and availability, working closely with cross-functional teams across application, infrastructure, and database services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain middleware across production and non-production environments
- Monitor performance, logs, and alerts (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace)
- Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve within SLAs
- Execute SQL queries for validation and troubleshooting
- Work within Linux/Unix environments for deployments and system checks
- Support API integrations (REST/SOAP)
- Assist with releases, deployments, and environment management
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues
- Follow ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change)
- Participate in an on-call support rota
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of Java-based or middleware systems
- Understanding of APIs and web services (REST/SOAP)
- SQL query experience and database fundamentals
- Exposure to middleware/tools (WebLogic, ESB, API gateways)
- Monitoring tools experience (Splunk, Dynatrace)
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Cloud knowledge (AWS/Azure)
- CI/CD and DevOps tooling familiarity
- ITIL certification
