Overview

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to provide high-quality financial management, reporting, and business partnering support within a strategic public sector organisation. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering exposure across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, systems development, and governance. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and operational teams, acting as a trusted finance partner and ensuring strong financial controls underpin organisational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering comprehensive management accounting services, including month-end processes, financial reporting packs, budget monitoring, and variance analysis
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and controls
  • Providing effective business partnering to support informed financial decision-making across directorates
  • Overseeing transactional finance areas, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, banking, and reconciliations
  • Supporting cash management, treasury activities, internal and external audit processes, and preparation of statutory accounts
  • Working collaboratively across the organisation, contributing to wider projects and service improvements

About You

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven experience in management accounting, ideally within the public sector or a complex, regulated environment
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent Excel and financial systems capability
  • Ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with strong relationship-building skills
  • Experience supporting financial process improvements or system enhancements
  • Exposure to governance, audit, or public-sector financial frameworks
