The Role
We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team delivering scalable cloud-native solutions. You will be responsible for designing and building real-time data ingestion pipelines, event-driven architectures, and backend services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role offers the opportunity to work on modern distributed systems, integrating data from multiple sources and developing secure, high-performance APIs that support business-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop real-time data ingestion and event-routing pipelines using Google Cloud Platform.
- Build scalable backend services and microservices using Python.
- Integrate and ingest data from a variety of internal and external APIs.
- Design, develop, deploy, and secure RESTful APIs.
- Implement and maintain event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality cloud solutions.
- Troubleshoot, optimise, and improve system performance and reliability.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Python development.
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including: BigQuery (BQ), Pub/Sub, Eventarc.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
- Strong knowledge of Flask and/or FastAPI frameworks.
- Experience building scalable, cloud-native applications.
- Experience with Go and/or Java.
- Exposure to data engineering and analytics platforms.
- Understanding of modern data processing and integration patterns.
