Our client is seeking an experienced Google DCX Engineering Lead to support large-scale public cloud transformation and infrastructure engineering initiatives within a complex enterprise banking environment. As the Google DCX Engineering Lead, you will lead the engineering and operational delivery of secure, automated Google Cloud infrastructure services supporting enterprise cloud adoption and platform modernisation. The role requires strong hands-on GCP engineering expertise alongside experience leading engineering teams, defining technical roadmaps, and driving cloud transformation initiatives at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 30+ infrastructure engineers across cloud platform initiatives
  • Define technical strategy, engineering roadmap, and quarterly planning for GCP DCX platforms
  • Provide technical leadership across cloud infrastructure engineering and platform modernisation initiatives
  • Collaborate with architecture and feature teams to shape cloud platform evolution
  • Design, build, and operate secure Google Cloud infrastructure services and compute platforms
  • Support enterprise Google Cloud compute environments including:
    • RHEL virtual machines
    • Windows virtual machines
    • Local SSD and Persistent Disk configurations
  • Deliver scalable, resilient, and automated cloud infrastructure services
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and related tooling
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and engineering automation initiatives
  • Drive automation, observability, and performance optimisation across cloud platforms
  • Implement reusable cloud patterns and self-service infrastructure capabilities
  • Embed secure-by-design principles and cloud security controls across platform services
  • Define and operate SLOs/SLIs to ensure high availability and platform reliability
  • Support operational excellence, fault tolerance, and performance tuning initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security and governance standards

  • Strong experience with:
    • Terraform
    • Jenkins
    • GitHub Enterprise
    • Packer
    • CI/CD tooling including GitHub Actions and Harness
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code and cloud automation solutions
  • Strong scripting capability using Bash, PowerShell, or Python
  • Experience with:
    • Dynatrace
    • GCP Cloud Armor
    • Cloud networking and security controls
    • Observability and platform monitoring practices
  • Experience defining and managing SLOs/SLIs and operational KPIs
  • Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams within enterprise environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration capability

Desirable Experience

  • GCP certifications
  • Experience acting as a technical consultant or cloud SME within enterprise transformation programmes
  • Knowledge of Backstage, Jira Cloud, and Jira Align
  • Experience driving innovation, platform strategy, and cloud best practices
  • Banking or financial services cloud platform experience
