Contract Opportunity: PostgreSQL Database Expert Our client, a large consultancy, is hiring a PostgreSQL DB Expert for a 6-month contract starting ASAP, working on a hybrid basis in Norwich, UK. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in optimizing and securing database systems for a forward-thinking organization About the Role: As the PostgreSQL Senior SME, you’ll be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, and support of PostgreSQL databases. This role also includes guiding development teams and collaborating with business stakeholders to ensure database stability, efficiency, and scalability. Key Responsibilities: * Administer, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL databases * Optimize performance via indexing, query tuning, and schema design * Implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies * Ensure data security using industry best practices * Troubleshoot and resolve database issues * Maintain clear documentation for configurations and procedures * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support database needs * Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical training Required Skills & Experience: * Proficient in SQL and PL/pgSQL * Strong knowledge of database design and performance tuning * Experience with backup/recovery strategies and security best practices * Familiarity with data warehousing environments * Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure * Excellent communication and client-facing skills are essential * PostgreSQL certifications or equivalent Desirable: * Hands-on knowledge of other RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) is a plus Contract Details: * Start Date: ASAP (next 2-4 weeks) * Duration: 6 Months * Location: Hybrid (Norwich, UK) * Rate: Competitive day rate inside IR35 If you have the relevant skills and experience, please apply promptly and we will be in touch to discuss your application further.
