This role involves providing targeted academic intervention and structured individual support for vulnerable students, focusing on improving GCSE English outcomes and supporting students accessing the Welfare Hub.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead small-group GCSE English and literacy intervention for selected Year 10 and Year 11 students (approx. 50% of the role).
- Plan and deliver small, targeted lunchtime KS3 literacy clubs to promote reading confidence, writing fluency and positive engagement with English for students identified as needing early support.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group academic mentoring for students with SEND, SEMH, anxiety or other barriers within the Welfare Hub.
- Collaborate closely with teaching staff in the English department, SEND and pastoral teams to ensure joined‑up, purposeful support that improves attainment, engagement, attendance and reintegration into lessons.
- Liaise effectively with students and staff and bring personal expertise and knowledge to enhance the learning experience and drive up academic achievement.
