Applications are invited for the post of Sexual Assault and Harassment Adviser. You will provide inclusive, trauma‑informed emotional and practical support to students who have experienced sexual violence, recognising that experiences may be recent or historic, and may have occurred within or outside the university environment. You will empower students to make informed decisions about their next steps, including exploring reporting options, while respecting their autonomy.

You will act as a key point of contact, assisting students to navigate and access a wide range of internal and external support services. Where appropriate, you will support students through reporting pathways, ensuring they feel informed and supported. You will contribute to the development and review of university policies and procedures, ensuring they are trauma‑informed and responsive to the needs of survivors. You will also support Queen Mary’s compliance with the Office for Students (OfS) Condition E6, helping to strengthen the university’s approach to preventing and addressing harassment and sexual misconduct. You will be an empathetic professional with experience supporting individuals affected by sexual violence, and a strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice, the dynamics and impact of sexual violence. The Advice and Counselling Service is a multidisciplinary student support service offering welfare advice, international student advice, sexual assault and harassment advice, counselling, mental health support and psychiatry. It sits within Student Wellbeing, in the Student Experience Directorate, alongside the Disability and Dyslexia Service and Student Life Team.
