We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Research Programme Manager to join the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD). This full-time maternity-cover role is central to supporting strategic research programmes across FMD and the Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH), contributing to initiatives that advance the Faculty's Research Strategy and wider institutional priorities. You will play a key role in driving the FMD Research communications workstream and support WIPH pre-costing activity. Alongside this, you will also contribute to a broad range of research-support functions which may include: induction, proposal development, postgraduate research support, performance evaluation, REF and other national assessment exercises, and thematic research-strategy development.
Working closely with senior academic colleagues, investigators, project partners, and central professional-services teams, you will ensure effective programme coordination. This includes monitoring progress against deliverables, maintaining accurate documentation, overseeing expenditure, and ensuring full compliance with funder and university requirements. You will also contribute to the development and delivery of our research, SharePoint or web-based resources - to enhance researcher engagement and increase visibility of Faculty activities.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate strategic research programmes across FMD and WIPH.
- Drive the FMD research communications workstream and support pre-costing activities.
- Contribute to induction, proposal development, postgraduate research support, performance evaluation, REF and other national assessment exercises, and thematic research-strategy development.
- Monitor progress against deliverables, maintain accurate documentation, oversee expenditure, and ensure compliance with funder and university requirements.
- Develop and deliver research resources (SharePoint or web-based) to enhance researcher engagement and visibility of Faculty activities.
Qualifications
You will hold a degree or possess equivalent professional experience, with substantial experience managing large and complex projects – ideally within a research or higher-education environment. You will bring strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience in operational planning and budget management. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to convey complex information clearly to a range of audiences and develop effective working relationships with academic, professional-services, and external partners. You will be confident using digital tools such as Microsoft Office and online collaboration platforms. Experience in organising workshops, seminars, or similar events is required.
