The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London seeks to recruit a Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Research Associate until 31st December 2026. The appointed candidate will support advanced research initiatives focusing on computer vision and efficient machine learning.
Key duties involve driving foundational research and system development in Efficient Computer Vision and/or Edge AI and/or decentralized learning architectures. Responsibilities encompass conducting independent systems-level research, developing robust software prototypes, executing rigorous performance evaluations, and disseminating findings through high-impact academic publications.
Candidates must hold an Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Computer Vision and Machine Learning or a related field. Candidates at the PDRA level must have a PhD degree (or close to completion) in Computer Vision and Machine Learning or related topic is desirable. The successful candidate must possess expertise in either computer vision, machine learning and desirably in decentralised learning. Essential requirements include demonstrable experience in conducting research, understanding the research process, and summarising findings. Furthermore, the role necessitates strong system-level programming and software development capabilities. Publications in leading peer-reviewed conferences and/or journals within the aforementioned domains would be desirable. Familiarity with the broader contexts of distributed systems alongside prior involvement in notable open-source projects would be advantageous.
