This role plays a key part in strengthening academic-industry collaborations within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD). The post-holder will work with researchers to develop meaningful partnerships with businesses, industry partners and government organisations, facilitating impactful research collaborations that drive innovation and real-world applications. The post-holder will help drive the development of strategic partnerships by identifying new business opportunities and fostering relationships with academics and key industry stakeholders, organising networking events, supporting the development and submission of funding bids and the pricing and negotiation of contract research.

The post holder will possess a post-graduation qualification in a specialist area relevant to FMD and have an understanding of research funding processes, Knowledge Exchange (KE) and Impact and an understanding of costings and contracts processes in higher education. The post-holder will have experience in business development or similar roles and have demonstrable experience of working in a non-academic environment and relevant setting.

The role sits within the established Business Development Team under the Research and Innovation Services Directorate which works closely with government bodies, industry partners and internal stakeholders including the Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) and Queen Mary Innovation Ltd, both of which are instrumental in research development funding and commercialisation. The post-holder will report to the Senior Partnerships Manager (Health) and work across the Faculty, engaging with Faculty researchers, senior managers, the Vice Principal (Health), Dean for Research, Institute Directors, Research Services staff, Professional Services colleagues and commercial partners and other external organisations.
