The Department of Law is looking to appoint a new staff member at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Teaching & Scholarship) level. The role will involve teaching one or more of the legal foundational subjects of the LLB and contributing to the department's teaching and scholarship activities. Appointments will be made based on experience, suitability and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in the legal foundational subjects of the LLB.
  • Contribute to the department's teaching and scholarship activities.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience, or a relevant professional qualification.
  • Demonstrable ability to teach at undergraduate level.
  • Ideally, teaching accreditation from the Higher Education Academy at Fellow or Associate Fellow level, or working towards this accreditation.
  • For Senior Lecturer level, substantial teaching experience is required.
  • Candidates with expertise in EU law, Land Law, Equity and Trusts, Criminal Law, or Legal Skills are particularly encouraged to apply.

Employment Details

The posts are based at the Mile End Campus in London. All posts are full-time, permanent appointments, with an expected start date of September 2026.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting salary will be Grade 5 to 6 per annum for Lecturers (Grade 5 depending on experience) or Grade 7 for Senior Lecturers, inclusive of London Allowance.
