The Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our Acute Stroke Therapy team. The Stroke Therapy team is forward thinking and dynamic, and well respected within the wider stroke pathway. We work as an integrated therapy team comprising Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Assistant Practitioners & Therapy Assistants, providing high quality assessment and rehabilitation across the acute stroke patient pathway. We work closely with other professions of a large multidisciplinary team including Speech & Language Therapists, Dietitians, Nurses, and Doctors. We work alongside very closely with the Community Stroke Therapy team who continue to treat a large proportion of our patients once they are discharged from hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Stroke Therapy team to support patients following a stroke with their rehabilitation.
  • Provide 1:1 and group rehabilitation under the guidance of and alongside qualified therapists to help patients regain movement, functioning and independence.
  • Support patients to achieve independence in personal care.
  • Receive thorough clinical support and training from qualified therapists and experienced Assistant Practitioners/Therapy Assistants.
  • Contribute to a busy, exciting, and dynamic team environment and gain new skills.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Full UK driving licence ideally, but not essential for the predominant needs of the role.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting people with their rehabilitation and care; ability to work using own initiative as well as within a close team.
  • Keenness in working closely with people and good communication skills.
  • Willingness to participate in weekend and Bank Holiday working.
  • Post holder's agreed working days to include Mondays and Fridays; normal hours 08:15 – 16:30 (7.5 hours per day) with some scope for minor alterations if needed.
