Role Overview

We are looking for a consultant paediatrician with sub‑specialty interests, particularly in paediatric oncology, to join our busy and dynamic team. The Department of Paediatrics provides hospital‑based in‑patient and out‑patient acute paediatric care, including Level2 neonatal services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consultant daytime service delivery in paediatrics and the chosen subspecialty at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and satellite clinics in Wisbech.
  • Provide support to the Level2 Local Neonatal Unit as part of the 1 in 8.5 acute "Consultant of the week" rota.
  • Participate in the 1 in 9 on‑call rota (non‑resident nights and non‑resident weekends), supporting the resident Middle Grade Tier Paediatrician.
  • Support the "neonatal consultant of the week" rota (4 weeks per year), covering neonatal unit ward rounds Monday to Thursday mornings.
  • Run the immunisation clinic.
  • Act as Paediatric Mortality Lead, overseeing processes surrounding sudden unexpected death in infancy and childhood.
  • Support the education programme for medical students on paediatric placement from Cambridge University.
