Overview

A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King?s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a high-profile, accessible, and responsive Trainee Advanced Practitioner (tAP) to take on clinical responsibility for the delivery of advanced clinical practice within the acute paediatric services both on site, virtually via the paediatric virtual ward and within the acute paediatric community setting.

You will undertake training as an advanced practitioner (AP) within your designated specialty/division. During this period, you will cultivate advanced clinical practice expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in the clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care and management of patients, who may present with highly complex and/or chronic presentations. Development will be supported by clinical supervisors who will oversee and assess their competence to ensure they demonstrate the required skills, and level of knowledge necessary for independent practice.

You will be supported to develop as an autonomous practitioner within your sphere of professional competence and agreed scope of practice and collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team. You will meet the criteria for advanced clinical practice as set out in the QEH Advanced and Consultant Level Practice (non-medical) competence, capability, and assurance framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Senior level clinical, educational, and professional leadership, supporting staff across the Trust care for paediatric patients.
  • Ensure evidence-based care is delivered to patients, and be involved in audit of practice, research, teaching, and service improvement.
  • Work in accordance with the Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England (HEE 2017)
  • Work in accordance with The Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Advanced and Consultant Level Practice (non-medical) competence, capability, and assurance framework.
  • Work in line with standards expected for Advanced Practice in line with professional registration regulations, and Trust policies/procedures.
  • Demonstrate and promote the Trust’s values and behaviours to the highest standard.
  • Draw on expertise on the four pillars of advanced practice to lead and influence improvements to standards of care.

Context and Opportunities

There’s never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We’re working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we’ve ever undertaken.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.
