West Dereham Ward are looking for enthusiastic, kind and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our dedicated team. This is a part‑time opportunity for 23 hours per week. We offer a supportive, exciting and challenging work environment with a diverse team. We are committed to the training and development of our staff.
Responsibilities
- Unsupervised assessment of patient care needs and development, implementation and evaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence‑based care.
- Undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust policies and ensure that these procedures and policies are understood and adhered to.
- Communicate with patients and significant others with empathy and reassurance regarding assessment, care and treatment.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records using appropriate documentation.
- Facilitate early discharge planning, enabling appropriate arrangements to be in place for patients leaving hospital, making referrals and providing information to community services to achieve a safe and timely discharge.
- Ensure safe custody and administration of drugs according to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures.
- Supervise junior or unqualified staff in all aspects of care; ensure that staff are knowledgeable.
- Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to promote good communication and a multi‑disciplinary approach to patient care.
- Participate in the audit of the principles of the Essence of Care benchmarking process, and implement action plans as required.
- Work with Lead and Senior Nurses, Bed Managers, Admissions and Infection Control to ensure optimal bed utilisation.
- Carry out assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care and escalate any clinical concerns to a senior nurse as required.
- Carry out the daily personal individualised care of patients.
- Maintain accurate records and update patient administration systems (e.g., PAS) to ensure real‑time data collection and confidentiality.
- Effectively use information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with Trust Policy.
- Communicate with patients, clients and relatives on emotional and sensitive issues.
- Be competent in managing emergency situations, including directing other members of the team.
- Be competent in clinical skills including enhanced practice relevant to the clinical area.
- Contribute to the philosophy and continuous development of the clinical area.
Qualifications
- Registered nurse in the UK;
- Successfully completed the Trust’s preceptorship programme (applicable only to newly qualified and return to practice registered nurses);
- Evidence of maintaining a high standard of nursing care applying evidence‑based practice.
