Company Description: Qube is the clubhouse for the creator economy. A members' space where creators and the businesses built around them work, meet and create under one roof with access to premium studios, workspace and lounges. With four London sites open, we're home to a thriving community of hundreds of professional creators across the creator economy, and we're growing quickly to multiple exciting new venues. Our newest and most ambitious site opens in Shoreditch in October 2026.
Role Description: We're looking for a Bar Manager to build and run Qube Shoreditch's entire beverage offering from the ground up - coffee by day, drinks by night. This is a hands-on, in-house role: you'll be behind the counter as much as you're managing it, and you'll be one of the most visible faces of the space to our members.
What You'll Do:
- Set up the operation from day one – since this is a new site, you'll build the SOPs, stock/ordering systems and service standards from scratch before you're running them day-to-day.
- Be the face of the lounge space – build genuine relationships with members; the bar is a big part of why people choose to spend their day here.
- Run the café day-to-day and bar in the evening – serve coffee in the day, set drinks at night, and build the standards every barista and bartender works to.
- Own the coffee programme – manage the relationship with our premium coffee partner (beans, cold brew, syrups etc.), dial in the machine, and keep quality consistently excellent.
- Build the evening offering – manage a lean, high-quality wine, beer and cocktail selection.
- Manage stock and ordering – across coffee, wine, beer and spirits, keeping wastage low and availability high.
- Recruit and manage a casual team – hire baristas and bartenders on zero-hour contracts, train them to your standard, and build the rota around member footfall.
- Own the numbers – track and manage margins across the beverage offering, working closely with the GM on cost control.
- Build and maintain hospitality and service standards – set out clear standards for service, presentation and member interaction, and make sure everyone on the team (however casual their contract) is trained and held to them consistently.
- Collaborate with the wider Qube team – support studio events and member activations as needed.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years' experience running or managing a bar or café – you know how to run a service, not just work one, including menu execution, stock management and quality control.
- Previous experience supervising teams and managing shifts, with some experience recruiting, training or managing a small team, even informally.
- Commercially minded – understands stock control, margins and wastage.
- Knowledge of health, safety and hygiene standards, and familiarity with licensing regulations relevant to bar and café operations.
- A genuine passion for coffee, and ideally some barista training or interest in specialty coffee.
- A natural host – someone members will get to know and look forward to seeing, with strong customer service and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and inclusively with a diverse creative community.
- Ambitious and hands-on – someone who wants to build something and make it theirs, comfortable working solo and owning a shift end-to-end.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative environment, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences, and we're happy to make adjustments to the recruitment process where needed - just let us know.
