We are recruiting for a First Line Manager on behalf of a growing ophthalmic company with a strong UK presence and global reach. This is a field-based commercial leadership role and a key hire for the business. It is a great opportunity for someone with previous pharmaceutical sales leadership experience who enjoys building, developing and motivating teams, whilst also remaining close to customers and the market. The role will cover the South / London / South East and would suit someone with experience leading teams within pharma, ideally with exposure to hospital, formulary and ICB networks. Previous ophthalmology experience would be highly advantageous.
The Role
- Lead, develop and motivate a high-performing sales team
- Spend the majority of your time in the field, coaching and supporting team members
- Drive sales performance through strong business planning, KPI management and clear expectations
- Work closely with the team on account planning, customer targeting and territory activity
- Support market access and formulary success through a strong understanding of the hospital and ICB landscape
- Build relationships with key stakeholders including Ophthalmologists, ICBs and other healthcare professionals
- Use data, insight and commercial awareness to identify opportunities and improve performance
- Partner with internal teams, particularly marketing, to ensure strong execution in the field
The Person
- Previous experience as a First Line Manager within pharmaceuticals
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate and develop a team
- Experience of driving sales growth through a field-based team
- Good commercial and analytical skills, with experience using data, forecasting and KPI management
- An understanding of selling through hospital and ICB networks
- Market access / formulary experience would be highly beneficial
- Previous ophthalmology experience would be useful
- Based within reach of London / South East, with the ability to travel regularly and get into London when needed
The Package
- Base salary of £75,000 - £85,000 with some flexibility for the right person
- Car allowance of £520 per month
- 5% pension
- 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays
- Private healthcare
- Death in service benefit at 4x salary
