Location: Hybrid – regular attendance at MOD Abbey Wood 2–3 days/week

Rate: Up to Β£550/day (Inside IR35)

Overview: Join the SIAD Delivery Team within the Land – Weapons domain, supporting the LMM and Martlet weapon systems. The role is responsible for safety management activities across both programmes, working with the SIAD Chief Engineer and project teams to maintain and develop safety cases, support operational changes and coordinate safety governance.

Key Tasks & Deliverables:

  • Annual review and upkeep of SECR for LMM, Martlet Weapons System (MWS) and Martlet Inert Weapons SECR and associated Safety Management Plans – Recommendations for amendments / drafting of updates to SECT and SMP
  • Provision of safety advice to SIAD Chief Engineer for short term operational requirement changes – Draft Chief Eng letters / risk transfers, arranging E-PSEP to support and liaison with duty holders and platform safety teams
  • Update of LMM SECR and the MWS SECR to introduce the LMM A3 variant – Updated versions of the two individual SECR for SSR / TL sign off, booking of OSRP and addressing comments received.
  • Drafting of LBOSS and potential OSRP submission for storage of LMM E2 variant at Defence Munitions sites – Letter based OSRP safety submission drafted for SSR/TL signature to enable storage of replenishment purchases to be stored at Defence Munitions if required
  • Secretary for the LMM PSEP and the Martlet PSEP and provision of input to the SIAD DT SEMC – Agree PSEP calendar, generate slide packs and minutes. Maintain individual PSEP stakeholder lists
  • Chair and secretary for LMM HLWG, Martlet HLWG and Martlet Maritime integration safety working group (MISWG) – Agree HLWG calendar, generate hazard review schedule, slide packs and minutes. Maintain individual HLWG stakeholder lists. MISWG to be held as required in discussion with the maritime integration team
  • Input to DASOR and MID investigations and other OME related integration issues for LMM and Martlet – Reviews and investigations in conjunction with Thales and platform safety teams including any resultant recommendations
  • Complete DSA DOSR Regulation 118 impact assessments for LMM A3 variant and outline impact of LMM Block 2 – DOSR Regulation 118 impact assessments for review with stakeholders
  • Drafting and submission of LMM STANAG non-compliance waiver including PSEP stakeholder management, manage annual review of extant waiver – Manage annual review and stakeholder acceptance of existing non-compliance waiver. Manage drafting and stakeholder acceptance of additional non-compliance waiver with subsequent submission to DOSR.

Essential Experience / Skills:

  • Previous experience of missile safety programmes, MOD safety cases and OSRP submissions
  • Experience of working within a complex working environment
  • Knowledge and experience of maritime, air and land regulators / safety requirements
  • Good stakeholder management / relationship skills across multiple organisations both internal and external
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure
  • Ability to provide advice on safety management process and risks and able to draft written communications to Duty Holders

Desirable Experience / Skills:

  • Experience of working with a single product/missile used across multiple environments
  • Ability to assess operating risks outside the issued Safety Case in support of Duty Holder request when on Operations.

Other Information: Hybrid working is acceptable, but regular attendance at MOD Abbey Wood is expected until familiar with the projects.
