Overview
The AJAX Programme sits within the National Armaments Director Group (NAD) and Land Combat Vehicles Portfolio. This role sits within the Integrate Pillar, coordinating engineering activity across the AJAX programme, supporting Project Leads and Chief Engineers to identify and resolve cross-cutting technical issues as part of a Tiger Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-project issue resolution – Oversee identification, analysis and resolution of engineering issues impacting multiple projects.
- Provide technical guidance – Support Project Leads and Chief Engineers with strategic input to resolve complex design conflicts.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration – Promote early detection and mitigation of design inconsistencies and integration challenges.
- Oversee Tiger Team initiatives – Ensure focused, rapid resolution of critical engineering problems.
- Ensure communication and coordination – Facilitate clear alignment and effective problem-solving among engineering teams.
- Champion documentation and knowledge sharing – Drive documentation of issues, resolutions and lessons learned.
- Guide risk management – Lead risk identification and mitigation related to integration and design conflicts.
- Support delivery of engineering solutions – Assist Integrate Lead in meeting programme requirements, timelines and quality standards.
- Maintain standards and best practices awareness – Keep teams updated on engineering standards, project specifications and industry best practice.
Essential Experience / Skills
- Have wide ranging depth and breadth experience of providing technical advice and delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
- Demonstrate experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering.
- As a minimum be professionally registered as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or equivalent.
Desirable Experience / Skills
- Experience managing engineering change and configuration (Asset management experience) is desirable.
- Experience within an Engineering Production Environment is desirable, but not essential.
- Experience managing engineering activity within a Defence Major Program (GMPP/CAT A) is desirable.
