Overview
The Mobile Fires Platform (MFP) is a 'Category A' Government Funded Project and is the CGS' top priority. This capability is being delivered by Combat Vehicles 1 (CV1) PT. The British Army has selected the RCH155 Howitzer as its next generation 52 calibre, 155mm self-propelled howitzer. The programme includes delivery of an Early Concept Demonstrator (ECD), Qualification Range and Accuracy (QRA) activity and series production, with an initial production contract intended to provide a Minimum Deployable Capability (MDC) by 2029. This role is to provide the necessary SME support across the above contracts to achieve the desired outcomes.
Key Tasks and Deliverables
- Lead for the environmental aspects of the ECD, QRA, and production contracts - Ensuring environmental contractual deliverables meet MoD Policy requirements.
- Produces, reviews, endorses, and recommends acceptance of environmental artefacts - IAW the ECD, QRA and production contract timescales and deliverables.
- Identifies and analyses environmental impacts and leads on the contributions to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures, ensuring that these are adequately documented and managed.
- Ensure the contractor environmental case accurately reflects the environmental risks and have been reduced to BEPO.
- Develops, manages, and maintains effective Environmental Management Systems across a matrix managed organisation working alongside stakeholders and multiple Delivery Teams - DT environmental management plan.
- Manage the environmental acceptance criteria through the test, verification, and validation process - Production and/or scrutiny of contractor supplied V&V data.
- Manage and participate in assurance, audit, and reviews activity - Ensure documentation is produced/made available for internal and external audits and support audit process.
- Provides recommendations and informed environmental advice to decision makers through Project Environmental Panels - ESSR environment panels, direct support to ESSR and SRO.

- Knowledge or experience of military land vehicles and associated systems.
