Role Summary
This contract role supports the Royal Navy's Type 23 Frigate programme, working primarily on mechanical engineering activities across acquisition and in-service support. The post holder will apply core mechanical engineering principles to assure safe, effective and supportable maritime capability within a highly regulated MOD environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering advice and assurance in support of Type 23 Frigate systems
- Support generation and review of technical requirements, documentation and artefacts
- Manage and assess mechanical designs, modifications and in-service support activities
- Apply relevant legislation, standards and MOD policy to ensure safety, quality and compliance
- Identify, manage and escalate technical and safety risks appropriately
- Support verification, validation and acceptance activities
- Collaborate with stakeholders, contractors and delivery teams across the acquisition lifecycle
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- Mechanical or Mechatronic engineering background
- Experience providing technical advice and delivering mechanical engineering outcomes
- Experience working within regulated engineering environments
- STEM qualification at RQF Level 4 or above, or equivalent
- Professional registration (EngTech / RSciTech / MarEngTech) or higher, or RQF Level 6 qualification
