We are seeking an experienced and driven Finance Manager to lead financial governance, reporting integrity, and operational finance across our Rugby operations. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring robust financial management, strong controls, and high-quality reporting, while also providing commercial insight to support large-scale project delivery; including hydro contracts. You will work closely with the Head of Projects, central finance, and operational teams to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and effective decision-making across a complex, project-led environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain financial governance frameworks across Rugby operations
  • Ensure effective financial controls, approval structures, and segregation of duties
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and legislation
  • Act as escalation point for financial risks, control issues, and anomalies
  • Support overseas tax considerations and liaise with central finance on compliance
  • Coordinate and support project financial reporting with Project Managers and central finance
  • Review project performance to support operational decision-making
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of project financial data
  • Oversee month-end project reviews and reconciliations
  • Support audit requirements and preparation activities
  • Lead annual budgets and rolling forecasts for Rugby operations
  • Support cost forecasting, budget monitoring, and variance analysis
  • Deliver financial modelling and commercial insights
  • Provide financial input into project planning and decision-making
  • Support tendering and bid processes with financial expertise
  • Oversee cashflow forecasting and liquidity management
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in financial transactions
  • Oversee payment approvals within delegated authority
  • Review and approve employee expenses in line with policy and HMRC requirements
  • Maintain integrity of financial systems and master data controls
  • Review supplier account reconciliations
  • Ensure consistent and effective financial processes
  • Drive continuous improvement in systems, reporting, and controls
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Finance Administrator
  • Ensure transactional activities are accurate and compliant
  • Set priorities, review outputs, and maintain high standards
  • Support ongoing development of finance processes and team capability

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience
  • Strong background in management accounts preparation and analysis
  • Experience in financial reporting, controls, and governance
  • Proven experience supervising or managing a team
  • Strong understanding of audit processes and internal controls
  • Experience supporting large-scale projects (£10m+)
  • Background in engineering, construction, or project-led environments
  • Experience within multi-site or operational businesses
