A premium countryside resort in North Devon is looking for an ambitious Junior Sous Chef to join its growing kitchen brigade. This is an excellent opportunity to join a quality-driven hospitality business where food plays a central role in the guest experience. The Role

Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will support the day-to-day running of the kitchen whilst helping to maintain consistently high standards across all food operations. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a chef who enjoys working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and thrives within a busy, fast-paced kitchen. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations
  • Preparing and presenting high-quality dishes to consistently high standards
  • Supervising and mentoring junior members of the brigade
  • Assisting with stock control, ordering and minimising waste
  • Maintaining food hygiene and health & safety standards
  • Contributing ideas for seasonal menus and specials
  • Helping to create a positive and professional kitchen culture
  • Stepping into leadership responsibilities in the absence of senior chefs

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across multiple areas of the resort's food operation, gaining valuable exposure and development within a growing business.

About You

We're keen to speak with chefs who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef within a hotel, resort or quality restaurant environment
  • A genuine passion for fresh, seasonal food
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure during busy service periods
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • A desire to continue learning and progressing within hospitality

Experience within a multi-outlet hotel or resort environment would be advantageous, although attitude, passion and work ethic are equally important.
