If you’ve got a knack for making guests feel at home and enjoy a mix of hospitality, admin and making sales - this could be just the role for you. We’re looking for 2 confident, friendly and enthusiastic Hotel Receptionists (part time, 24 hours per week) to join our teams. One position is available at The Clifton Hotel, the largest hotel in our independent group, with 59 characterful bedrooms right in the heart of Clifton. The second position will be based at the Rodney Hotel - a charming, elegant boutique hotel and the smallest of our group, nestled in the heart of Clifton Village.
At Quarter, we do things differently. We’re an independent hospitality group that’s been part of Bristol’s story for over 60 years - proudly local, team-focused and full of personality. You’ll work hard, learn loads, and be part of a supportive, down-to-earth team that loves delivering great service (and having a bit of fun along the way).
The Practical Bits
- Location: Bristol, Clifton BS8 - either based at the Clifton Hotel on St Paul’s Road, or the Rodney Hotel on Rodney Place in Clifton Village
- Hours: Part time, 24 hours per week worked over 3x 8-hour shifts each week
- Shift timings: You’ll work 3 weekly shifts to a rota (including weekends) that is planned out 3 weeks in advance - great for planning your life around work! You’ll work a combination of early shifts (7am - 3pm) and late shifts (2pm - 10pm).
- Pay: £15,288 per annum (based on 24 hours per week) plus uncapped bonuses (on average around £60-£80 extra per month, however the uncapped nature of the bonus means that our top performers can expect to take home even more than this)
- Overtime: £12.50 per hour (for agreed overtime). Non-agreed overtime may be taken as time in lieu with your manager’s approval.
What you’ll be doing
Every day’s different, but here’s a taste of what’s involved:
- Welcoming guests with warmth and personality - first impressions matter!
- Managing check-ins, check-outs and reservations (accuracy is key)
- Hitting your sales targets (upselling add-ons, selling rooms etc), helping guests discover the best we offer
- Handling enquiries and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes
- Supporting your team and keeping those admin plates spinning
Once trained, you’ll work independently at the desk, with an hour’s crossover each day with your colleague taking on the next shift. You’ll have wider support from our very hands-on Hotel Assistant Manager and Hotel Manager.
About you
You’ll be:
- A people person, naturally friendly and approachable
- Organised and detail-focused - great at juggling tasks and staying calm
- Motivated by targets and teamwork, but also able to work independently
- A resilient problem solver
- Flexible to work a mix of early (7am–3pm) and late (2pm–10pm) shifts, including weekends (rota based)
Hotel or hospitality experience is great, but not essential - we’ll provide plenty of training for the right person with the right attitude.
