Are you an experienced Family Support Worker seeking a part time opportunity in Dumfries and Galloway? Responsibilities

  • As a Family Support Worker you will provide intense family support to children and their families in Dumfries.
  • You will play an important part in keeping families together and supporting them with the wider social inequalities that impact their lives.
  • You will also ensure that families and children's voices are heard while tailoring their support to meet their identified needs.
  • Each person you meet will be listened to, respected and involved in decisions which could affect them while working towards achieving positive outcomes.
  • This opportunity is a relief role; working hours will be dependent on service needs.

What you will need to bring to the role

  • Understanding of drug and alcohol issues, child development and family dynamics.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of child and/or adult protection.
  • Supportive and enabling approach to all family members and staff.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and organise a diverse workload.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, confidence and knowledge.
  • Experience of effective inter-agency collaboration.
  • Ability to work irregular hours when required – including evenings and weekends.
  • Driving licence is preferred and access to own transport.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach when supporting families with the challenges they face.
