Make a Difference to Parent Carers and Families

Are you enthusiastic about supporting families and helping people thrive in their communities?

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and relationship-focused Family Wellbeing Worker to join our Dumfries & Galloway Parent Carers Support Service.

This rewarding role will involve working alongside parent carers of children and young people with disabilities, providing timely support, information and guidance that can make everyday life more manageable. Through trusted relationships, you will help families improve their wellbeing, reduce isolation, build confidence and strengthen their support networks. You will connect parent carers with community resources and opportunities, remove barriers to accessing support, and ensure their voices and lived experience influence the services they use. By helping to build more carer-friendly communities and supporting delivery of the Dumfries and Galloway Carers Strategy, your work will help parent carers feel heard, valued and empowered, with stronger connections and greater resilience to support themselves and their families.

About the Role

As a Family Wellbeing Worker, you will:

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with parent carers.
  • Provide information, advice and signposting to appropriate services and supports.
  • Support parent carers to identify and achieve wellbeing goals that build confidence, resilience and greater control in everyday life.
  • Facilitate peer support opportunities, coffee mornings, workshops and community activities that reduce isolation and create lasting connections between families.
  • Help families overcome barriers and access local resources and opportunities that improve their wellbeing and participation in community life.
  • Work collaboratively with partner organisations across health, education, social work and the third sector to coordinate support, reduce gaps, help families receive the right help at the right time, and contribute to carer-friendly communities and delivery of the Dumfries and Galloway Carers Strategy.
  • Capture feedback and lived experience so parent carers voices directly shape more responsive, inclusive and effective services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with organisational requirements.
