Quantum Scholars is looking for a caring, patient and experienced SEN Tutor to support children and young people in and around Taunton, Somerset. This in‑person tuition role is usually delivered in the learner’s home or a suitable community setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 in‑person tuition for children and young people in Taunton and surrounding areas
- Support learners with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), ADHD, ASD and associated SEMH needs
- Travel to pupils’ homes and/or suitable community settings
- Plan and deliver personalised learning sessions using creative, practical and interest‑led approaches
- Help learners build confidence, routines and positive learning habits
- Support academic progress at a pace appropriate for each learner
- Adapt sessions to suit each learner’s needs, ability and emotional readiness
- Work professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals
- Keep brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progress
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
- Strong understanding of EBSA, ADHD and ASD
- A calm, patient, nurturing and flexible approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with learners who may find education challenging
- Ability to plan engaging, personalised learning sessions
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people
- Legal right to work in the UK
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel to in‑person tuition sessions in and around Taunton
- Right to work in the UK (all applicants must possess or be willing to obtain the necessary legal status)
- Enhanced DBS certificate and suitable references
- Qualified Teacher Status is highly desirable, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher
