Position summary
As a result of company growth an opportunity exists for an experienced Operations Director to join our team. The successful individual will establish Operations as a new department; encompassing our administrative, legal, customer support, quality control and inspection services delivery. You will develop the teams within Operations from scratch, establishing processes, shaping strategy, and building lasting relationships. This unique opportunity requires previous experience in establishing manufacturing procedures, alongside building and managing growing teams. The successful candidate will also bring engineering expertise to the business from a background in vision / imaging systems or robotics.
What you’ll do
- Work alongside our CEO, senior leadership, and HR teams to introduce and build a new Operations department within the business.
- This will comprise of our existing administrative function as well as our new Inspection Services arm, setting this up from scratch with best-in-class processes, systems and personnel.
- Build and develop our production facilities across our Oxford and Cambridge sites.
- Review and introduce robust quality control processes to maintain our high standards, including ISO certifications.
- Build a unified customer support function.
- Support with the roll out of our selected ERP system.
- Manage internal teams across multiple departments predominantly in the UK whilst working closely with cross functional teams across the UK, Saudi Arabia, and the US.
- Review and manage our suppliers ensuring cost, quality, and time standards are met.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrable experience in an Operations Director or equivalent level role; ideally from within a growing organisation with a focus on imaging / vision systems or drones/robotics.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, process improvement, and team leadership.
- Confidence in establishing manufacturing and quality processes in line with ISO standards.
- Ability to grow teams from scratch, creating and embedding a positive and empowering work culture.
- Excellent communication skills to support and develop your teams along the company journey, and to liaise effectively and appropriately with suppliers and customers externally.
- Experience in establishing customer success teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with specific imaging systems, drones/UAV payloads, or other camera/electro-optical products.
- Experience rolling out new ERP systems across functions.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience in managing supply chain and logistics.
