Quantum Scholars is currently building its Somerset team ahead of what is expected to be a busy September 2026, with a wide range of SEND, EOTAS and Alternative Provision referrals anticipated across the county. As demand continues to grow, we are looking to recruit SEND Tutors, Mentors, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Youth Workers, Pastoral Support Staff, and SEND Support Workers who are passionate about helping vulnerable young people succeed.
Many of the learners we support are unable to access mainstream education and may have needs relating to SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, medical conditions, behavioural challenges, or EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance). Whether you’re an experienced SEND tutor, a classroom teacher looking for a new direction, a supply teacher seeking greater flexibility, or an experienced support worker, this is an opportunity to make a genuine difference through personalised 1:1 tuition and mentoring.
Support is delivered on a 1:1 basis with both primary and secondary-aged learners, and we’ll always aim to match you with the age groups and types of students you feel most comfortable supporting. Most tuition takes place face-to-face within a student’s home or in a suitable community setting, with occasional online opportunities where appropriate. We expect a high volume of referrals from September onwards, with opportunities ranging from just a few hours each week through to regular ongoing work that can be close to full-time, depending on your availability and the needs of individual learners.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Driving and access to a vehicle would be highly advantageous
- Ability to travel within Somerset
What We Offer
- Flexible opportunities around your availability
- Ongoing referrals throughout the academic year
- Meaningful 1:1 work with vulnerable young people
- Face-to-face opportunities with occasional online tuition
- Competitive rates, dependent on experience
Please note that applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for these opportunities.
