Quantum Scholars is looking for compassionate, engaging, and adaptable SEND Tutors / Learning Mentors to provide personalised 1:1 support for pupils currently accessing alternative provision across Wokingham and the surrounding Berkshire areas.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a young person's life by helping them rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive educational outcomes.
We welcome applications from experienced tutors, teachers, learning mentors, SEN specialists, intervention staff, youth workers, pastoral staff, HLTA's, TA's, and professionals with experience supporting children with additional needs.
About the Role
You will work on a 1:1 basis with primary or secondary-aged pupils who are currently outside of mainstream education.
Many of the learners we support have additional needs including
- SEND
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- SEMH needs
- Behavioural challenges
- School refusal/anxiety
- Medical needs
Sessions take place either within the pupil's home or in suitable community settings during school hours.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering engaging 1:1 sessions tailored to each learner's needs
- Supporting pupils academically, emotionally, and socially
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Helping students develop confidence and re-engage with education
- Planning and adapting sessions to suit individual learning styles
- Providing support in core subjects including English and Maths

- What Weβre Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND or additional needs
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, youth work, pastoral care, or intervention support
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full Right to Work in the UK
- Ability to travel for in-person sessions across Wokingham and surrounding areas
QTS and teaching qualifications are welcomed but are not essential for all opportunities.
A degree in a relevant subject area is desirable.
