We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced SEN Tutors to provide personalised 1:1 and small-group tuition for primary and secondary-aged learners across the London Borough of Hillingdon. This provision supports young people who are currently unable to access mainstream education, including those on EOTAS pathways, as well as pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. Demand for SEN Tutors is currently high, with referrals continuing to grow throughout the academic year and ahead of September.

About the Role

As an SEN Tutor, you will provide tailored educational support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them develop confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes. Many of the learners we support may have needs relating to:

  • SEND
  • Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH needs
  • Behavioural challenges
  • School refusal and anxiety
  • Medical needs

Sessions take place during school hours and are delivered within pupils' homes, schools, community settings, or online.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 or small-group tutoring sessions
  • Support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with learners
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual learning needs
  • Support core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science where appropriate
  • Encourage confidence, engagement, and independence in learning
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback where required

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or significant tutoring experience
  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH, or within alternative provision settings
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Good understanding of safeguarding practices
  • Ability to travel within the Hillingdon area
  • A degree in a relevant subject area is advantageous
