Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education and achieve their full potential? We are working in close partnership with a well-established Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wokingham and are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Tutors to join our growing team. Due to a significant increase in referrals, we have a range of exciting opportunities available for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential.

As a 1:1 Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping pupils rebuild their confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive educational outcomes. With regular referrals coming through from our client, we are actively expanding our team and have learners ready to start immediately.

About the Role

You will provide personalised, face-to-face tuition to primary and secondary-aged pupils who require alternative educational provision. Sessions will take place either:

  • In the pupil's home
  • Within a community setting such as a library or learning hub

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, tailored tuition sessions
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting learners to develop confidence and independence
  • Adapting your teaching approach to meet individual learning needs
  • Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements, no matter how small

Who You'll Be Supporting

You will work with young people who have a range of additional needs, including:

  • SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
  • Anxiety and Mental Health needs
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Other complex learning needs

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from Tutors who are:

  • Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient
  • Passionate about making a difference through education
  • Confident in delivering engaging 1:1 learning sessions
  • Able to build rapport with pupils who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education
  • Availability to deliver tuition across five days per week would be advantageous.
