Are you passionate about helping young people succeed through personalised and flexible learning? We are seeking a caring and motivated English Tutor to provide one-to-one off-site tuition for students aged 5-16, including learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other additional learning needs. This rewarding role involves supporting students outside of a traditional classroom setting, helping them re-engage with learning, develop confidence in English, and make meaningful academic progress.
Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored one-to-one English tuition aligned with individual learning plans.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of abilities, learning styles, and additional needs.
- Plan engaging and accessible lessons that support literacy, reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Monitor and record student progress and attendance accurately.
- Work collaboratively with schools, families, and other professionals to ensure consistent and effective support.
Qualifications
- Ideally a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent), though applicants with strong tutoring or mentoring experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with SEND or SEMH learners is highly desirable.
- Patient, empathetic, and flexible, with the ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
- Access to a car is advantageous unless you are already based locally.
- Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
