Quantum Scholars are looking for a committed and experienced English Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition to secondary-aged students within an Alternative Provision setting in Norwich. This role will involve supporting students who may need additional help with their English learning, literacy skills, confidence, engagement, or preparation for exams. The tuition will take place in a school setting, working with students on an individual basis and tailoring sessions to meet their needs. We are particularly interested in hearing from tutors who can support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 English, including GCSE English Language and/or English Literature where required.
Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 English tuition to secondary-aged students
- Planning and delivering engaging, personalised sessions
- Supporting students with reading, writing, comprehension and literacy skills
- Helping students prepare for GCSE English Language and/or Literature where required
- Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual needs and learning styles
- Helping students re‑engage with English in a positive and supportive way
- Working closely with school staff and Quantum Scholars to support student progress
Qualifications
- Has experience teaching, tutoring or supporting English at secondary level
- Can deliver English confidently across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
- Is patient, reliable and able to build positive relationships with young people
- Can adapt lessons for students who may have barriers to learning
- Has strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Is passionate about helping students make progress and rebuild confidence
Experience in Alternative Provision, SEND, SEMH support, behaviour support, literacy intervention, or working with disengaged learners would be highly desirable.
