Quantum Scholars are currently working with a fantastic secondary school in Bedfordshire who are seeking a qualified and experienced Geography Teacher to join them immediately. This is a long-term position running until the end of the academic year. The school is a co-educational secondary with a sixth form, recognised for its commitment to academic excellence, personal development and strong pastoral care. They deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum across KS3, GCSE and A-Level, offering a broad and balanced range of subjects. The school has been rated "Good" by Ofsted.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Geography lessons across KS3, KS4 and potentially KS5.
- Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, ensuring strong progress and attainment.
- Teach a broad Geography curriculum, including physical geography, human geography and geographical skills (e.g. map reading, data analysis and fieldwork).
- Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including high-achieving students and those with SEND.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes excellent behaviour for learning.
- Assess, monitor and report on student progress in line with school policies.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support pupil development and exam readiness.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and the ongoing development of the Geography department.
- Attend departmental meetings, parents' evenings and wider school events.
- Uphold the school's safeguarding policies and maintain high professional standards at all times.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- A degree in Geography or a closely related subject.
- Proven experience teaching Geography at secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge across both physical and human Geography.
- Experience preparing students for GCSE (and ideally A-Level) examinations.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate learners.
- A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and pastoral care.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- The right to work in the UK.
