We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded secondary school in Buckinghamshire, proudly rated "Good" by Ofsted. From September 2026, the school is seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis, with the opportunity to contribute to Drama.

About the Role

This role is primarily focused on English, teaching Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4. Alongside this, there will be opportunities to deliver some Drama lessons or get involved in performance-based activities, depending on your experience and interest. You will play a key role in developing students' literacy, analytical thinking, and confidence, while also having the chance to bring an element of creativity and performance into your teaching. This is an ideal opportunity for someone whose main passion lies in English, but who enjoys incorporating a touch of Drama to enrich students' learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Contribute to the delivery of Drama where appropriate.
  • Inspire students to explore language, texts, and storytelling, with opportunities to incorporate performance.
  • Support students' academic progress while building confidence and communication skills.
  • Contribute to a strong and ambitious English curriculum.
  • Monitor progress and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Support extracurricular activities such as reading groups, creative writing, and, where possible, drama productions or clubs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

What We're Looking For

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with the right to work in the UK.
  • Strong experience teaching English at GCSE level.
  • An interest or experience in Drama is desirable, but not essential.
  • A passion for English and the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and creative approach to teaching.
  • A team player keen to contribute to wider school life.
