SEND Science Tutor - EOTAS Student
Working arrangement: In-person
Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced SEND Science Tutor to work on a one-to-one basis with an EOTAS student. This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.
The role will involve providing tailored Science tuition to a student who would benefit from a flexible, personalised approach to education. You will be expected to build a positive and trusting relationship with the student, adapt your teaching to their individual learning needs and interests, and help develop their confidence, engagement and progress in Science.
The successful tutor will be able to create engaging and accessible lessons while remaining flexible to the student's pace and individual circumstances. Experience supporting young people with SEND or those who have found mainstream education challenging would be particularly beneficial.
The role may involve
- Delivering one-to-one Science tuition tailored to the student's individual needs
- Supporting the student with areas of the Science curriculum appropriate to their age and ability
- Planning engaging, accessible and appropriately challenging learning activities
- Adapting teaching methods to suit the student's individual learning style and needs
- Helping the student develop confidence and a positive attitude towards Science
- Supporting the development of independent learning, organisation and study skills
- Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
- Building a consistent and positive relationship with the student
- Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
- Maintaining clear and professional communication
- Following safeguarding procedures at all times
Essential requirements
- Experience teaching or tutoring Science to secondary-aged students
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally in a one-to-one setting
- A good understanding of the secondary Science curriculum
- The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning
- Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
- A patient, flexible and supportive approach
- The ability to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people to achieve their potential
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
- Satisfactory professional references
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
