Role

We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our busy and fast-paced Finance team. Reporting at an Entity and Group level, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end processes, managing balance sheet reconciliations, and providing valuable financial insight across multiple entities. You will also act as a key finance contact for stakeholders across the wider business, helping to ensure strong financial controls and effective decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and posting month end journals for multiple entities
  • Performing monthly review and reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts; prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, stock, other receivables and other payables etc.
  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting overhead expenditure
  • Preparing the first draft of Management Accounts for multiple entities for review, ensuring accuracy and timely submissions
  • Reconciliating intercompany balances as part of the month end reporting process
  • Carry out any ad hoc reporting required to investigate variances and queries after month end reporting
  • Supporting the Consolidation of the Group’s financial reporting
  • Processing daily bank transaction and completing regular bank reconciliation
  • Supporting cashflow forecasting
  • Processing Intercompany recharges and other recharges as per business needs
  • Supporting statutory and bank audits, co‑ordinating samples etc.
  • Involvement in the collation of information for the CT returns
  • Supporting the Group’s budget preparation
  • Building effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to process improvements and supporting ad hoc finance projects and tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in a similar Assistant Accountant role
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present financial information clearly
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to engage stakeholders across the business
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate taking responsibility and accountability for tasks end‑to‑end
  • Trustworthiness and discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Experience in reporting to tight deadlines
