Overview
Quantum Motion is a fast‑growing quantum‑computing scale‑up based in London, developing scalable silicon‑based quantum processors.
The Cryogenic Engineering R&D team works on the design, development, and characterisation of cryogenic components for quantum computing.
Responsibilities
- Develop new approaches to ultra‑low‑temperature signal transmission, sample cooling, miniature superconducting magnets, cryostats, and other key components.
- Take control of test and characterisation protocols for cryogenic and electronic components to ensure repeatability and quality control.
- Provide fast and efficient lab support to research scientists for experimental setups.
- Feed R&D work into production, developing robust assembly and test methodologies.
- Act as a reference point and mentor for apprentices and other technical team members.
Essential Qualifications
- Higher degree (masters or Ph D) in a relevant discipline involving low‑temperature quantum measurements or equivalent industry experience.
- R&D or production experience in a commercial or laboratory environment, familiar with dilution refrigeration.
- Proven creativity and passion for inventing.
- Experience with CAD software, prototyping, and communicating technical information.
- Experience in training, supervising, and inspiring junior staff or apprentices.
- Strong intuition for hardware debugging and a proactive approach to installation and site work.
