At Quantum Base, our mission is to use science to improve the world. We were founded by Professor Robert Young to create practical quantum technologies that anyone can use. Our niche is applying quantum science to create anti-counterfeit solutions that actually work. Quantum Base has invented the Q-ID, a small atomic fingerprint that can go on anything, can be authenticated with any smartphone, and cannot be counterfeited. Q-IDs are novel, are covered by 40+ patents, and eliminate counterfeits in industries like pharmaceuticals, currency and luxury goods. No other solution offers 100% secure authentication on a smartphone - what we do is truly world leading. We’re listed on the London Stock Exchange, and on a growth journey to bring our inventions to the world. We’re looking for new team members to join our team working at the leading edge of science.
Location: Minimum 2 days per week in our Lancaster University offices, when not attending customer sites. This is to ensure you have access to our labs, our scientists, and can pick up our technology as quickly as possible. Regular international travel will be required.
About the Role: We are looking for a Solutions Engineer to help us convert more interested lead Quantum Base print trials and customer onboarding from initial sales meetings through to live production. You’ll work very closely with our customers, our Commercial Team, and the rest of Quantum Base to teach potential customers about our solution, help them get production ready and turn them into paying customers. You will act as the technical authority during the sales process. This is the first external hire into the new Customer Implementation function, so you’ll be able to put your mark on the business and the way we do things. Given that, we’re looking for people who have startup experience, or are happy with creating new approaches where they don’t exist.
Our solution is fundamentally a scientific invention, but our IP is implemented using our mobile SDK, our cloud, our manufacturing software and our ink. You will need to have experience with software and technology, however print experience is not required (we have experts who can teach you the intricacies of printing).
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Sales Technical Support
- Partner with the commercial team from an early stage on sales opportunities
- Provide technical validation and feasibility assessments
- Participate in technical deep dives with customers

- Support live production tests on customer print lines
- Troubleshoot real-world issues across data, workflow, and print production
- Liaise with our science team to deliver print trial results and learnings
- Own technical onboarding for new customers post-sale
- Integrate the Q-ID technology stack into our customers systems
- Ensure tools are in place for quality assurance
- Ensure customers are production-ready and self-service through training
- Feed customer learnings back into Quantum Base for continuous improvement
- Help build repeatable trial and onboarding playbooks
Required Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience running customer trials or pilots
- Comfortable leading technical conversations with senior customer stakeholders
- Able to manage ambiguity and guide customers through new operational models
- Great problem-solver

- Prior role as Solutions Engineer, Technical Account Manager, or Implementation Engineer

- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple customers and projects at the same time
- Technical & Systems Skills
- Familiarity implementing new software or technical processes into existing enterprise workflows or production lines
- Good knowledge of software and technology, including mobile SDKs, cloud APIs etc
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
What Success Looks Like in This Role:
- Customer print trials run smoothly and meet agreed success criteria
- Customers move confidently from pilot to scaled production
- Production issues are identified early and resolved pragmatically
- Quantum Base implementations become more repeatable and predictable over time
