Our team benefits from being in the office together, for collaboration and to access our device lab and science lab. This role requires a minimum of 2 days, ideally 4 days per week in our Lancaster University Office. The costs of commuting to our Lancaster office will not be reimbursed for this role.
As the Lead iOS Engineer, you will own the development of our iOS codebase. You will collaborate with our talented science and engineering teams to implement new features, improve performance, and ensure a seamless user experience. You will lead and help to build our iOS team, currently a mix of permanent and contract staff, and report into the Head of Software. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment, on a world-leading technology that is having a real difference reducing the impact of counterfeits around the world.
This role will include:
- App development in Swift
- Problem solving with our team, bringing new perspectives and experience into our team
- Implementing modern best practices and high quality, testable, readable code
- Identifying and fixing bugs and performance bottlenecks to enhance application efficiency
- Optimising application performance for scalability and robustness
- Continuously improving the development process by implementing tools and automation
Key experience
- Proven experience as an iOS engineer with at least 5+ years of hands-on development experience
- Proficiency in Swift and Objective-C, with a strong understanding of iOS frameworks such as UIKit
- Knowledge of image processing (CoreImage, OpenCV)
- Knowledge of cameras & optics (AVFoundation)
- Excellent software engineering skills with a focus on modern best practices (SOLID, Clean, TDD, CI/CD, automation)
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile team
- Ability to quickly learn complex problem spaces
- Experience in a startup or startup-like environment
Nice to have experience
- Experience with Android, .Net MAUI, Flutter, React Native, AWS
- Experience with machine learning
- A background in science or technology
