We are seeking a Lead Digital Electrical Engineer to be a member of the team developing the next generation control system used on our Apollo series Quantum Computers. For this role, we are seeking electrical engineers with expertise in multiple fields, including analog and/or digital circuit design, FPGA design and verification, and embedded software. This position allows for some work from home but will be primarily on site at our Broomfield, Colorado location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment
  • Develop a complex electronic control system capable of controlling digital, analog, and RF signals
  • Perform circuit design and analysis, embedded software development, and/or FPGA design and verification
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to define new concepts and technologies used to control quantum computers
  • Work closely with FPGA developers to implement these concepts then validate them on internal developmental testbeds
  • Evaluate new software and hardware technologies to improve the control of Quantum Computers
  • Lead design teams to complete projects on-time with first-pass success

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in digital board design including schematic capture and layout
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. person (defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status)

WE VALUE:

  • Masters/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred
  • Board design experience using FPGAs, processors, high-speed serial, and DDR memory
  • Experience using lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, DMM, JTAG devices, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated technical excellence and leadership in one or more of the following:
  • Extensive schematic entry and board layout experience (Altium PCB software preferred)
  • Xilinx based FPGA design and verification experience including proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, and System Verilog
  • Embedded software experience, especially involving Zynq Ultrascale+ FPGAs and processors
  • Ability to model and simulate complex circuitry and validate the model with hardware measurements
  • Proven leadership ability that includes program execution, skills development, and mentoring of junior engineers
  • Demonstrating decisive business impact and continuous drive for improvement in an ambiguous environment
