The Quantum Software Lab (QSL), based in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, is inviting applications for up to nine Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in Quantum Computing.
We are seeking candidates who combine research excellence with a results-oriented and impact-focused approach. We particularly welcome applicants with strong research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Quantum algorithms
- Quantum machine learning
- Quantum simulation
- High-performance computing and quantum computation integration
- Networks and distributed quantum computing
- Quantum programming and software
- Verification and benchmarking
- Quantum error correction and error mitigation
- Fault-tolerant compilation and resource estimation
These positions will contribute to QSL’s main research programme, Quantum Advantage Turbo Charger (QATCH), a £20 million UK Government investment in the University of Edinburgh’s Quantum Software Lab, which has been developed to support the National Quantum Computing Centre and the wider UK quantum community in achieving the goals of the National Quantum Technology Missions.
The roles offer an excellent opportunity to actively participate in and shape QSL’s research projects, helping strengthen its position of international leadership in quantum software. The successful candidates will join the largest academic quantum software team in the UK, based in one of the world’s leading computer science departments.
Location: Quantum Software Lab, School of Informatics, The University of Edinburgh
Contract: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Duration: Fixed term for 24 months, with eligibility for a one-year extension subject to a successful mid-point review
