Job Summary Quantica Medical, is seeking a Remote Services Doctor to conduct pre-treatment assessments, consultations, and post-treatment care for clients seeking abortion services. The role involves evaluating medical history, ensuring suitability for Early Medical Abortion medication and contraception, and addressing post-termination concerns in a dynamic setting.

Main Duties

  • Review client medical history to determine eligibility for Early Medical Abortion and contraception, including LARCs.
  • Conduct assessments for post-termination complications.
  • Communicate with clients via phone to gather medical information and assess suitability for telemedicine.
  • Document complication rates and potential treatment risks in client notes.
  • Provide post-treatment triage calls to discuss complications, prescribe necessary treatments, and schedule appointments.
  • Review post-treatment client notes and attend post-operative appointments within NUPAS clinics.
  • Verify understanding and intelligence for clients below the age of 16 to give informed consent.
  • Document consultation, pre-treatment assessment, and consent in client notes and regulatory documents.
  • Evaluate grounds for abortion and initiate appropriate referrals if necessary.
  • Prescribe contraception based on client notes.
  • Participate in NUPAS Quality Improvement projects, including audits and Clinical Governance activities.
  • Stay updated through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and annual appraisals, adhering to GMC regulations for revalidation.

Person Specification Qualifications

  • Essential: GMC registration, experience in Gynaecology (Foundation years or more).
  • Desirable: Diploma in Sexual Health, membership in a Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, qualification for gestational age ultrasound scans and ectopic pregnancy exclusion.

Experience

  • Essential: Termination of pregnancy procedures, contraception advice, including LARCs, assessment of unplanned pregnancies, gestation identification, management of medical conditions affecting treatment, ultrasound proficiency, excellent communication skills.
  • Desirable: Sexual Health experience, familiarity with intrauterine coil and subdermal implant fitting, counseling skills.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check This role requires a submission to the Disclosure and Barring Service to assess previous criminal convictions in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
