It’s what got us here – and it’s what will make our future. At Quantexa, you’ll experience autonomy and support in equal measures allowing you to form a career that matches your ambitions.

Opportunity: You’ll join our Research and Development department, working closely with our Engineering teams on our core Contextual Decision Intelligence product, the Quantexa Platform. The team focuses on building and improving solutions through thoughtful engineering practices, ensuring the Platform is delivered to a high standard in a sustainable and collaborative way. Our products process, analyse and present large volumes of data, helping organisations identify unusual and potentially suspicious activity. The user interface supports detailed investigations into fraud and financial crime and helps users explore and understand complex networks.

The R&D department is based across London, Ireland and Malaga, and includes over 100 people working in agile teams made up of Engineers, Designers, QA specialists and others, each contributing to specific areas of the Platform.

Tech Stack: On the back end, our services are primarily written in Scala and deployed as microservices. We value functional and strongly typed programming and make use of libraries such as Cats and Shapeless. We use Akka and Monix to help build scalable and reliable distributed services, and apply patterns such as event sourcing and CQRS in our persistence layer. The front end is built using modern tools and frameworks including TypeScript, Angular (6+) and ngrx. It has been designed to be extensible and configurable, enabling customisation for different needs. We also use AI tooling across our software development lifecycle, combining external services such as Claude and Vertex with internally developed tools to support engineering teams and others across Quantexa.

In this role, you will:

  • Work in partnership with multiple Engineering teams, supporting the delivery of new components and features for the Quantexa Platform, while maintaining a strong focus on quality.
  • Support, mentor and develop Engineers at all levels, contributing to recruitment, onboarding, learning and progression opportunities across the department.
  • Be based in the UK, with occasional travel to our European offices when helpful.
  • Bring sufficient technical experience to contribute to architectural and technical discussions and help teams consider the broader context of their decisions.
  • Encourage the thoughtful use of AI to support engineering effectiveness and product development, helping teams adopt tools and practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Team Leads to plan upcoming work, supporting teams through Agile ways of working.
  • Partner with Product Management to understand market needs and align them with Engineering capabilities to create achievable and clear roadmaps.
  • Coordinate release activities across Engineering teams and communicate progress to stakeholders to support predictable and well-paced delivery.
  • Help teams manage dependencies, identifying risks or blockers early and supporting their resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, ways of working and collaboration across the department, with a focus on quality, sustainability and scale.
  • Work with stakeholders outside the department to understand and respond to their needs in a considered and transparent way.
  • Support the day-to-day operational activities of the department.

What do I need to have?

  • Have experience delivering software across the full engineering lifecycle, from design and implementation through to testing and deployment in a live SaaS environment.
  • Enjoy identifying and supporting organisational changes that help Engineering teams work more effectively and deliver value.
  • Care about designing and delivering well-engineered, high-quality solutions to complex problems.
  • Have a background in software development and architecture, including experience with web applications and/or data-intensive systems.
  • Are enthusiastic about developing others, with experience across people management practices.
  • Bring strong planning and delivery skills, with a good understanding of Agile processes and experience working across multiple teams.

It would be helpful if you also have experience with:

  • Functional programming using Scala or Java, and/or modern front-end frameworks such as Angular (2+).
  • Infrastructure-as-Code, containerisation, Kubernetes and CI/CD.
  • Software delivered both on-premise and as a service.
