Quantexa’s Research and Development department operates across London, Ireland, and Malaga, employing more than 100 engineers, designers, QA specialists, and other professionals in agile teams. The core product, the Quantexa Platform, processes, analyzes, and presents large volumes of data to enable detailed investigations into fraud and financial crime, helping users explore and understand complex networks.
Back‑end services are written primarily in Scala and deployed as microservices, utilising functional, strongly‑typed programming with libraries such as Cats and Shapeless, and frameworks such as Akka and Monix for scalable, reliable distributed services. The front‑end is built with TypeScript, Angular (6+) and ngrx, and is designed to be extensible and configurable for custom needs. AI tooling is integrated across the software development lifecycle, combining external services such as Claude and Vertex with internally developed tools.
Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with multiple Engineering teams, supporting the delivery of new components and features for the Quantexa Platform, while maintaining a strong focus on quality.
- Support, mentor and develop Engineers at all levels, contributing to recruitment, onboarding, learning and progression opportunities across the department.
- Be based in the UK, with occasional travel to our European offices when helpful.
- Bring sufficient technical experience to contribute to architectural and technical discussions and help teams consider the broader context of their decisions.
- Encourage the thoughtful use of AI to support engineering effectiveness and product development, helping teams adopt tools and practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Team Leads to plan upcoming work, supporting teams through Agile ways of working.
- Partner with Product Management to understand market needs and align them with Engineering capabilities to create achievable and clear roadmaps.
- Coordinate release activities across Engineering teams and communicate progress to stakeholders to support predictable and well‑paced delivery.
- Help teams manage dependencies, identifying risks or blockers early and supporting their resolution.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, ways of working and collaboration across the department, with a focus on quality, sustainability and scale.
- Work with stakeholders outside the department to understand and respond to their needs in a considered and transparent way.
- Support day‑to‑day operational activities of the department.
Qualifications
- Experience delivering software across the full engineering lifecycle, from design and implementation through to testing and deployment in a live SaaS environment.
- Enjoy identifying and supporting organisational changes that help Engineering teams work more effectively and deliver value.
- Care about designing and delivering well‑engineered, high‑quality solutions to complex problems.
- Background in software development and architecture, including experience with web applications and/or data‑intensive systems.
- Enthusiastic about developing others, with experience across people management practices.
- Strong planning and delivery skills, with a good understanding of Agile processes and experience working across multiple teams.

- Functional programming using Scala or Java, and/or modern front‑end frameworks such as Angular (2+).
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code, containerisation, Kubernetes and CI/CD implementation.
- Software delivered both on‑premise and as a service.
